Process Improvement Engineer – Technical Division

Summary

We are seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to join our R&D and Manufacturing team at our Buford, GA facility. This role focuses on optimizing manufacturing processes for pressure-sensitive paper, thermal labels, and coated paper products.

Unlike many competitors, our company is unique in the industry for managing the entire pressure-sensitive paper production process in-house, from raw material formulation to the final product. This provides an opportunity to work on end-to-end process improvements, making a tangible impact on product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

We are looking for candidates with experience in any stage of pressure-sensitive paper production, including coating technology, adhesive formulation, thermal paper production, or roll-to-roll processing. The ideal candidate will have a background in chemical engineering, materials science, industrial engineering, or related fields, with hands-on experience in process optimization.

This position is on-site in Buford, GA, requiring direct engagement with production teams, equipment specialists, and quality control engineers.

Essential Duties

• Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for coating, drying, curing, and adhesive applications in pressure-sensitive paper production.
• Improve material formulation and coating processes to enhance product durability, print quality, and performance.
• Identify production inefficiencies and develop solutions to reduce defect rates, increase yield, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Utilize coating and printing equipment to fine-tune production parameters and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and quality control, to drive process improvements.
• Support technology transfer from R&D to full-scale production, ensuring that newly developed formulations and processes are effectively implemented.
• Conduct root cause analysis and data-driven troubleshooting to resolve manufacturing issues.
• Work closely with suppliers and vendors to identify new materials and production technologies.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.

• Full-time, on-site position at the Buford, GA facility.
• Standard business hours with occasional flexibility based on production needs.

Working Location

• Buford, GA – Required on-site presence for hands-on process improvement initiatives.

Salary & Benefits

• Base Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 per year (negotiable based on experience).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience in any stage of pressure-sensitive paper, label, or printing manufacturing (coating, adhesive formulation, printing, or roll-to-roll processing).
• Hands-on experience with industrial coating, printing, or converting equipment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience using data-driven process improvement methods (Six Sigma, Lean, or similar).
• Ability to collaborate with production teams and engineers to implement process improvements.
• Experience in paper, label, or packaging industries is highly preferred.
