Associate Producer

【Summary】
The primary responsibility of this position is to provide various support and coordination to correspondents under the direction of correspondents and the production team, ensuring the smooth execution of news reports and TV program production including news gathering, research, planning, and logistics processes. Additionally, this position assists in content creation by pitching story ideas and preparing research briefs to aid in the production of compelling news stories and TV programs.

【Essential Duties】
Assist in Contents Creation and Production Coordination
News Gathering:
• Collect information, data, and materials required for news reporting and production from contacts, news outlets, and other sources. Compile and organize collected information and findings into clear, accessible formats/ style for correspondents.
• Work with correspondents to ensure that the collected information is relevant to the topics.
• Cultivate and maintain relationship with reliable sources who can provide tips and news leads.
Researching:
• Research topics assigned by correspondents. Identify persons, organizations or experts for interviews and commentary to gather in-depth information, analysis, or opinions about the topics.
Content Creation:
• Pitch story ideas and contribute to brainstorming session to generate relevant story idea for news stories or tv programs.
• Write research briefs, provide background information, facts, and statistics to correspondents to enhance story development and contribute to the creation of program content.
Planning & Logistics:
• Negotiate, make appointments for and schedule interviews with sources and filming.
• Coordinate logistics including transportation, accommodation, and any others necessary arrangement for news gathering, filming and production.
 Writing and Reporting:
• Occasionally assigned to write news scripts and conduct on-air/ on-site reporting of news contents.
Verification:
• Verify information and ensure that all contents are accurate, fact-checked and objective.

Reporting to Supervisor: Keep supervisor informed of status and progress, ensuring that regular and periodical communication takes place. When appropriate, escalate issues to supervisor, ensuring that concerns are addressed before they escalate into more serious problems and advance approvals are obtained for expenditure or irregular/ time-consuming tasks.
Communication & Interpersonal Demeanor: Maintain lines of communication with others with sensitivity to cultural diversity; Demonstrate respect for all individuals (both internal and external), regardless of their role, background, or position. When conflicts arise, address and resolve them in a constructive manner.
Work Efficiency: Organizes, prioritizes and completes assigned tasks efficiently while handling multiple tasks simultaneously and managing time effectively.
Continuous Improvement: Seek constant improvement, being resourceful in finding more efficient and less expensive alternatives in work process.
Technical Knowledge Development: Maintain professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks and keeping abreast of industry trends and related compliance issues within the area of responsibilities.
Other: Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested by correspondents, producers, and management.

【Salary, Benefit】
$42,000

【Qualifications】
Experience: Several years of experience in television production industry, preferably in a live broadcast environment, or television production or similar field.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of new reports broadcasting and tv program production process and techniques.
Computer: Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, Internet
Language: Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English. It’s preferable if speak, read, write, and communicate in Japanese or Spanish.
  Ability to lift and move equipment such as cameras, tripods, lighting gear, and others, often weighing up to a moderate to heavy weight.
 Ability to stand for long periods and work in various physical environments (outdoor, indoor, crowded locations).
 Driving: Frequent travel to various locations for news gathering, broadcasting and production.
 Ability to work beyond normal business hours including early mornings, night time, weekend or holiday as business needs dictate;
 Occasionally be called for last-minute assignments (e.g., for breaking news coverage).
 Ability to adapt to changing environments and work under pressure in hard conditions (e.g., disaster hit area, conflict zone).
