Position

• Supervisor, Freight Forwarding

Summary

• This role is responsible for the daily operations of international logistics and freight forwarding. You will lead a team of specialists to ensure the efficient handling of import and export shipments across drayage, rail, air, and ocean transportation. A key focus of this position is acting as a liaison for international freight forwarding with the parent company in Japan.

Essential Duties

• Oversee end-to-end freight forwarding operations and manage assigned customer accounts.

• Supervise and train a team of 1–2 local hybrid Senior Specialists.

• Monitor customer service quality and resolve escalated logistics issues.

• Maintain relationships with service providers and approve negotiated freight rates.

• Audit data entry and documentation for accuracy while ensuring compliance with global trade regulations (including FMC).

• Manage billing, payments, and profit margin tracking for assigned accounts.

• Ensure SOPs are maintained and team members are cross-trained for coverage.

Working Hours, Working Style

• Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (35 hours per week).

• Lunch: 1 hour.

• Style: Hybrid (3 days in office / 2 days at home). The supervisor must be on-site the same three days as their direct reports.

Salary/Benefit

• Salary: $65,000 – $72,000 per year.

• Status: Exempt.

Qualifications

• Experience: 5 years in freight forwarding, including international export experience.

• Leadership: 2 years of supervisory experience.

• Technical: 2+ years of Cargowise experience is required.

• Language: Proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing). Japanese speaking is highly preferred to facilitate communication with the parent company.
