【Position】
Purchasing Manager – Tier 1 Automotive Parts Manufacturer

【Summary】
A Tier 1 automotive parts manufacturer specializing in fuel pumps, pump modules, and related components for major OEMs is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead its procurement operations. The role encompasses both mass production and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) purchasing and is responsible for implementing strategic sourcing practices, developing supplier relationships, and improving procurement systems.
Preferred candidates include those with purchasing experience at Tier 1 automotive suppliers, or others in the fuel systems category. However, candidates with strong Japanese communication skills and business negotiation experience (e.g., sales or supplier coordination) are also encouraged to apply.

【Essential Duties】

• Develop, implement, and monitor procurement policies to align with company-wide strategies.
• Oversee vendor selection, evaluation, and management processes for fuel system-related parts and MRO items.
• Lead negotiations for large-volume contracts and blanket purchase agreements.
• Analyze market conditions and pricing trends to recommend optimal purchasing timing.
• Ensure contract compliance, proper documentation, and audit readiness.
• Maintain procurement records, supplier performance data, and pricing histories.
• Coordinate with production and logistics to manage inventory levels efficiently.
• Supervise and train purchasing staff; evaluate performance and provide guidance.
• Address internal concerns and recommend HR solutions as needed.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Manufacturing departments to achieve procurement goals.
• Stay informed on industry best practices through conferences, vendor visits, and continuous learning.

【Other Functions】

• Ensure clear communication across departments and external stakeholders.
• Propose and implement process improvements within the purchasing department.
• Foster a clean, compliant, and safety-conscious work environment.

【Salary/Benefit】
$78,000 – $93,000 annually (base salary)
Higher compensation may be offered to candidates with proven purchasing experience at Tier 1 automotive manufacturers such as DENSO, Aisin, or Hitachi Astemo.

【Qualifications】

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, or related field (Master’s preferred)

• Experience:
  　• Minimum of 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience
  　• At least 2 years in a Tier 1 automotive manufacturing environment, ideally in fuel systems
  　• OR relevant business negotiation experience and Japanese language ability (acceptable for entry into purchasing)

• Skills:
  　• Expertise in vendor negotiations and contract lifecycle management
  　• Familiarity with purchasing law and supplier compliance
  　• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
  　• Strong organizational and communication skills
  　• CPM or equivalent certification preferred

• Physical Requirements:
  　• Ability to walk factory floors, lift up to 40 lbs., and perform light physical tasks

• Travel:
  　• Occasional travel required
  　• Valid driver’s license required for company vehicle use
