Job Description

Position:
Buyer / Senior Buyer

Summary:
The Buyer / Senior Buyer is responsible for coordinating supply base development, total cost management, and the purchasing process for selected purchased direct materials, component parts, and/or assemblies. The Senior Buyer will also manage, develop, and implement supplier performance measures for quality, cost, and on-time delivery improvements.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare, solicit, and evaluate technical request for quotation documents
  • Act as primary contact for supplier negotiations and contracts
  • Acquire materials, supplies, packaging, and services, placing purchase orders
  • Maintain constant contact and coordination with end users, suppliers, subcontractors, and freight companies
  • Provide cost analysis data to management for strategic decision making
  • Manage new model material, component, equipment, or tooling readiness projects
  • Foster and develop a "Development Partner" philosophy with suppliers

    To be considered as senior buyer:
  • Manage, develop and implement Supplier Performance measures (Senior Buyer)
  • Conduct market research, evaluation, and selection of new and current technology options (Senior Buyer)
  • Ensure contractual language for capital contracts protects company interests (Senior Buyer)
  • Develop comprehensive project resources and mobilization plans (Senior Buyer)

Working Hours, Working Style:

  • Full-time, salaried exempt position
  • May require up to 20% local travel, with potential for more depending on business needs
  • May require up to 2 international business trips per year, with potential for more depending on business needs

Working Location:

  • Franklin, KY

Salary/Benefit:

  • 55-65K DOE

Qualifications:

  • Buyer: Associate's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field, or minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Senior Buyer: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or STEM-related discipline, or minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong technical aptitude and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with budgeting, financial controls, and supplier performance management (Senior Buyer)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes like injection molding, metal stamping, forging, extrusion, etc. (Senior Buyer)
