Job Description

POSITION:
Individual Tax Manager

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and manage tax compliance services, including the preparation and review of corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns

• Provide strategic tax planning and consulting services to clients to minimize tax liabilities and support business growth

• Manage and review tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and disclosures for financial statements

• Lead communication and correspondence with tax authorities, including audit management and response to notices

• Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, providing guidance and training on complex tax issues and procedures

• Develop and implement efficient tax processes and best practices to ensure accuracy and compliance

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advise on tax implications of business transactions, mergers, and reorganizations

• Stay current with changes in U.S. federal, state, and international tax laws and ensure clients’ compliance

• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by senior management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

• CPA or EA certification required

• Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive experience in tax compliance and planning, preferably in public accounting or consulting

• Strong understanding of U.S. tax law, GAAP, and international tax concepts

• Experience with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, ProSystem fx Tax) and accounting systems (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.)

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

• Proven leadership ability and experience managing a team

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Bilingual in Japanese and English preferred

• $100K – $150K + bonus, commensurate with experience
