Senior Accounting Manager

Summary

The Senior Accounting Manager oversees the daily accounting operations of the U.S. entity and ensures accurate financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP and corporate policies. This role is responsible for managing accounting processes, supervising staff, supporting financial analysis, and coordinating with the parent company, auditors, and tax advisors. The position requires strong hands-on accounting expertise within a manufacturing environment and the ability to work in a cross-cultural setting.

Essential Duties

Financial Accounting & Reporting
 Supervise and develop accounting team members to ensure high performance and
professional growth.
 Perform and review key accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations,
monthly and annual closings, and financial reporting to the parent company
 Prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and key financial analyses to support management
decisions.
 Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards,
audit requirements, and internal controls.
 Enhance accounting systems and drive process improvement initiatives for greater
automation and reporting accuracy.
 Manage day-to-day cash flows and maintain appropriate liquidity levels.
 Act as liaison with the parent company, external auditors, and tax professionals.
 Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes in compliance with US GAAP.
 Prepare financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
 Oversee accounts payable process. Manage AR risk, Inventory control
 Prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations (income tax, sales, tax,
other regulatory tax)
 Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and perform reconciliations.
 Oversee month-end closings, prepare monthly financials and flux analysis
 Prepare/Review monthly account reconciliations
 Collaborate with external auditors and tax return preparation
 Collaborate with other departments during the annual forecast/budget process
 Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations with the parent company and
affiliated entities.
 Manage day-to-day cash flows and maintain appropriate liquidity levels.
 Additional Ad Hoc Projects as needed


 Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
 Oversee cost accounting processes, cost allocation, including standard costing, variance
analysis, and inventory valuation.
 Monitor WIP, raw materials, and finished goods inventory.
 Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to improve cost management and
operational efficiency.

Internal Controls & Compliance
 Establish and maintain internal controls and accounting policies in alignment with
corporate standards.
 Ensure compliance with company policies, US GAAP, and local regulations.
 Ensure compliance with J-SOX regulations and internal controls.

Team Leadership & Process Improvement
 Lead and develop the local accounting team in a lean organizational structure.
 Improve accounting processes and documentation.
 Participate in ERP implementation and system enhancements as needed.

Working Hours / Working Style

8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Full-time, on-site position

Salary / Benefits

$100,000 – $120,000

Qualifications

Required
 Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
 High Excel skill
 7–12 years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing.
 Strong knowledge of US GAAP and manufacturing accounting.
 Experience with intercompany accounting and reporting to overseas headquarters.
 Experience with ERP systems
 Business-level English required.
 Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a small organization.

Preferred
 CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification.
 Experience working in a Japanese or multinational company.
 Knowledge of IFRS or JGAAP.
