Staff Accountant

Summary

Duties include daily invoicing and accounting data entries and all others related to accounts receivable/payable. Report aging status weekly and contact customers for collections. Coordinate with Sales dept. for payment deductions to be allocated into the appropriate sales channels and accounts.

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Accounts receivable and collections Receive payments, enter into accounting system, and make deposits Daily invoicing and accounting data entries Accounts payable and issue checks Other duties related to accounts receivable/payable as directed by Acct. Mgr. Back-up Customer Service Coordinator as secondary phone answerer. OTHER DUTIES Responsible for reporting any discrepancies or potential high-risk credit issues to the manager. Responsible for seeking constant improvement in work processes and techniques in the department and for helping both managers and co-workers improve company’s productivities. Responsible for maintaining good communications, morale, and a positive teamwork approach on a consistent basis. Maintain positive communications when interfacing with customers. Perform special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Certification: Minimum High School diploma or equivalent competency. Associates Degree in Accounting or Bookkeeping preferred. Required Knowledge: Strong business communications skills (Verbal, written, call center, etc). Highly organized, professional business habits. Strong Windows-based computer skills and experience with Quickbooks software. Experience with effective paper and electronic filing systems and data storage and retrieval. Ability to multi-task during busier times to prioritize and execute to completion all issues in a timely matter. Ability to find creative ways to improve company operations at a minimal cost. Experience Required: 3 years of previous experience in a similar position. Skills/Abilities: Ability to complete the daily task to meet specific deadlines under minimum supervision. Ability to get along well with diverse personalities. Must be tactful, mature, and flexible. Ability to organize and handle daily work tasks with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to use typical office equipment (i.e., calculator, fax, typewriter, copies, etc.) Ability to use a personal computer and software for business applications such as word processing, financial spreadsheets, etc. This position requires the employee to frequently sit. In addition, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to reach with hands and arms. Ability to successfully respond to multiple work pressures. Ability to communicate verbally in person and on a phone. Ability to listen, understand, interpret, and solve problems.
