Director of Human Resources – Luxury Japanese Dining 

​​​​​​Summary
Our client — a Luxury Japanese Dining Group — is seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead the HR function and serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership. This role oversees HR operations at headquarters and supports HR processes across multiple U.S. jurisdictions, ensuring compliance, driving HR strategy, and strengthening organizational effectiveness.

About the Role
​​​​​​​The Director of Human Resources provides executive leadership, strategic HR guidance, and oversight of HR operations. This role requires strong judgment, risk awareness, and the ability to lead HR during periods of growth and change. The Director will manage HR team members and external partners, ensuring scalable HR processes and alignment with business objectives.


 Key Responsibilities

​​​​​​​Strategic & Leadership

​​​​​​​• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals
• Advise executive leadership on HR trends, workforce planning, and risk mitigation
• Lead and mentor HR personnel and third-party partners to support scalable HR operations
• Drive culture initiatives, continuous improvement, and organizational development
• Partner with leadership on change management and workforce planning

Compliance & Policy

​​​​​​​• Oversee HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook compliance
• Ensure adherence to federal, multi-state, and local employment laws
• Coordinate with legal, payroll, and external advisors on compliance and risk issues

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management

​​​​​​​• Lead recruitment strategy, salary benchmarking, and job classification
• Support onboarding, performance management, development planning, and retention
• Oversee offboarding, exit interviews, and turnover analysis to inform strategy

​​​​​​​Employee Relations & Culture

• Provide guidance on employee relations, performance issues, disciplinary actions, and investigations
• Promote a positive, inclusive work environment and support DE&I initiatives

 Total Rewards & HR Operations

 • Oversee compensation, benefits administration, leave management, and vendor coordination
• Manage HR operational processes including onboarding/offboarding, HRIS, personnel files, and reporting
• Utilize HR data to track performance, compliance, turnover, and engagement
• Lead and support additional HR initiatives as a strategic partner

 Qualifications
• Experience in Japanese restaurants or food wholesale
• Experience supporting new store openings or pre-opening HR activities
• Prior multi-location or franchised operations experience
• Bilingual in Japanese and English preferred
• Occasional travel may be required to support HR initiatives
