Sales & Operations Associate

Summary
A global industrial materials trading company is seeking a Sales & Operations Associate.

This is a career-track position responsible for importing and distributing chemical products and resin materials from overseas suppliers (primarily Japan) to U.S. customers. The role begins with Account Support and operations to build product and supply chain knowledge, and will transition into full Sales & Account Management, including managing accounts and driving new business development.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable with cold calling, motivated to build relationships from scratch, and willing to travel extensively across the United States.

Essential Duties
Sales & Account Management (including Account Support and New Business Development)
- Support senior sales staff in managing customer accounts
- Develop and maintain relationships with U.S. customers, primarily manufacturers and processors, through proposals for chemical products and resin materials (existing accounts with new business development opportunities).
- Negotiate pricing, order quantities, and contract terms for both long-term agreements and spot transactions.
- Prepare demand forecasts and coordinate supply with customers to ensure consistent product availability.
 
Purchasing & Supplier Management
-  ​​​​​​​Liaise with overseas suppliers across Japan, Europe, North America, and Asia.
- Negotiate purchase prices and supply conditions, including minimum order quantities (MOQ) and lead times.
- Coordinate and manage import orders and logistics to meet customer demand.

Trade & Logistics Management
- ​​​​​​​Establish and manage import terms (FOB / CFR / CIF) and coordinate associated logistics.
- Monitor and control costs, including freight, customs duties, and clearance fees.
- Work closely with logistics partners to ensure timely delivery and compliance with U.S. import regulations.

Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of U.S. experience in either import operations, logistics, or sales.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field is a plus, but not mandatory)
- Strong communication skills
- Strong work ethic and willingness to handle operational and administrative tasks
- Ability to travel within the U.S.
- Valid driver’s license

Preferred
- Experience in trading companies, industrial distribution, or B2B materials sales
- Import/export operations experience
- Experience handling logistics coordination
- Background in plastics, chemicals, or materials industry
- Japanese language proficiency
