Job Description

【Summary】
The Site Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring the safety and health of all personnel at a lithium-ion battery production facility construction site. This role involves developing, implementing, and enforcing safety protocols that comply with legal regulations, client requirements, and company policies. The manager collaborates with project leaders and staff to promote a strong safety culture across the site and supports the safe and efficient completion of the facility.

【Essential Duties】

• Immediately report identified risks to the Team Lead

• Attend project meetings as requested

• Address other safety and health-related issues as they arise

• Obtain and manage necessary permits (e.g., Hot Work, Confined Space Entry)

• Conduct daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) reviews and approve required permits

• Conduct on-site safety training sessions (e.g., Toolbox Talks)

• Monitor the site for hazards and unsafe behaviors, providing immediate feedback

• Investigate and report incidents, maintaining thorough documentation

• Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety protocols and procedures

• Collaborate with the Assistant Safety Manager to ensure comprehensive site-wide safety coverage

• Travel within the facility and up to 50% to other project sites nationwide

【Qualifications】

• Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred

• Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST) preferred

• 5–7 years of experience as a Safety Manager in industrial construction or mechanical installation preferred

• Knowledge and practical application of OSHA safety standards

• Strong leadership and supervisory skills

• Ability to make decisions under tight deadlines with attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Ability to conduct safety training

• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills (safety guidelines, policies, incident reports, daily logs, OSHA logs, etc.)

• Proficiency with PC and company communication tools (email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Outlook)

• Preferred (not required): ability to communicate in Japanese and knowledge of Japanese machinery standards

【Work Environment】

• Personal protective equipment (PPE) required based on site conditions

• Work may involve outdoor tasks or in construction trailers/structures and requires adaptability to weather conditions
