• Trade Compliance Specialist or Manager

Summary

• A leading U.S.-based manufacturer of precision automotive components, part of a large global group, is seeking a Trade Compliance professional to oversee and maintain compliance with U.S. and international trade laws and regulations. The successful candidate will ensure accurate import/export classifications, maintain documentation, and coordinate with customs brokers and internal teams. This role could be filled at either the Specialist or Manager level, depending on experience and capability.

Essential Duties
(Core duties for both levels)

• Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. and international trade laws, regulations, and company trade policies.

• Classify goods under the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), Schedule B, and determine Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN).

• Maintain complete and accurate records of import/export documentation and supply chain security compliance.

• Review and ensure accuracy of customs declarations, shipping documents, permits, and licenses.

• Liaise with customs brokers to ensure the timely, compliant clearance of goods.

• Advise on trade compliance programs, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure compliance with special programs such as USMCA, conflict minerals reporting, and marking requirements.

Additional duties for Manager level:

• Manage day-to-day trade compliance operations with full autonomy.

• Lead audits to ensure adherence to trade policies and procedures.

• Monitor and interpret updates to global trade regulations and update internal policies accordingly.

• Develop and deliver trade compliance training to applicable personnel.

Working Hours, Working Style

• Full-time, standard business hours.

• on-site in Franklin, KY

• Occasional rare travel (domestic/international).

Working Location

Salary/Benefit

• Specialist level: $50,000–$75,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

• Manager level: $80,000–$100,000 annual salary, depending on experience.

Qualifications

For Specialist level:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant trade compliance experience.

• Foundational knowledge of import/export laws, HS/HTS classification, and customs documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately interpret regulatory requirements.

• Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

For Manager level:

• Multiple years of hands-on trade compliance experience with the ability to operate independently.

• In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international import/export laws, customs regulations, tariffs, sanctions, and embargoes.

• Demonstrated expertise in classification, audits, and policy implementation.

• Ability to develop and implement compliance policies and train others.

• Proactive in monitoring global trade regulation changes.
