Underwriter – Global Japanese Corporate Team (Entry Level / Associate Level)

Summary
A well-established Japanese insurer is building a new underwriting team in Chicago to serve the local insurance needs of Japanese multinational corporations as part of their global programs. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a founding team with strong growth potential. Essential Duties

• Support the development and administration of global insurance programs for Japanese corporate clients operating in the U.S.
• Learn core underwriting practices from experienced colleagues and apply them to real business scenarios
• Coordinate with internal departments in both the U.S. and Japan to ensure seamless service delivery
• Prepare and review policy documentation, endorsements, and internal reports
• Communicate effectively with brokers, clients, and stakeholders
• Become a fully independent underwriter within the first 12 months

Working Hours, Working Style

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
• Hybrid work arrangement (3 days/week in the Chicago office, 2 days remote)
• Full-time, Exempt

• Starting from $80,000/year (commensurate with education and ability)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a competitive academic institution

• Japanese language skills are a plus, though not required (even basic proficiency is welcomed)
• Strong analytical thinking and learning agility
• Backgrounds in liberal arts, business, economics, or related fields will be considered
