Position
Japanese Bilingual Outside Sales Representative (Plastics Distribution) 

Summary
A well-established Japanese-affiliated trading company is seeking a Japanese-English bilingual Outside Sales Representative to manage B2B sales activities across the Midwest. The company specializes in high-performance engineering materials, including multilayer films, metal-resin composite wires, and optical fibers (as the exclusive U.S. distributor for Mitsubishi Chemical and Japan Ply). This role requires native-level Japanese, business-level English, and the ability to build long-term relationships with automotive-related manufacturers. E-visa sponsorship is available for qualified candidates.

Essential Duties

• Maintain and expand strong relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 clients, including Japanese-affiliated manufacturers

• Conduct regular regional business trips (approx. once per week, 1–2 nights) to Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Kentucky

• Handle technical inquiries and product support for:
  　・Multilayer resin films
  　・Metal-resin composite wires
  　・Optical fibers

• Coordinate order processing, delivery schedules, and inventory with suppliers and internal logistics

• Communicate daily with Japan-based teams and vendors in Japanese

• Negotiate pricing, prepare quotations, and handle after-sales support

• Update CRM systems and provide regular activity reports

• Attend trade shows and internal sales meetings

8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Salary/Benefit
Base Salary:

• Recent graduates: $45,000–$50,000

• 2–3 years of work experience: $50,000–$55,000

• 8–10 years of experience: $60,000–$70,000+
  Salary determined by total years of full-time professional experience

Bonuses:

• Two guaranteed bonuses/year (May and December, approx. 0.5 months each)
• Performance-based bonus in September (historically 0.8 months or more, always paid—even during COVID)

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years of full-time professional experience
• Native-level Japanese (speaking, reading, writing) required
• Business-level English required (client communication, presentations, internal coordination)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently
• Strong understanding of Japanese corporate culture (JET alumni or prior experience at/with Japanese companies is a plus)
• Highly organized and able to manage multiple accounts independently
• Candidates with stable job histories and long-term growth potential are strongly preferred
