Assistant Manager – Air Export

Summary

This position is responsible for supporting and supervising the Air Export Department staff, ensuring timely and compliant handling of export operations. The Assistant Manager will oversee shipment preparation, documentation, and communication with customers, vendors, and internal teams, while also providing training and process improvement feedback.

Essential Duties

• Supervise and support staff in the Air Export Department.

• Prepare export shipments including labeling, documentation, customs clearance, and distribution.

• Coordinate with trucking companies, airlines, steamship lines, and bonded facilities.

• Issue freight bills and invoices; manage collections of unpaid invoices.

• Monitor and direct staff to ensure adherence to operational procedures.

• Provide training to Export staff and monitor the preparation of export documents.

• Ensure departmental compliance with company policies and government regulations.

• Review workflows and recommend improvements to maintain service quality.

• Record and report all operational discrepancies.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and vendors.

• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Department Manager.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience

• Strong knowledge of Air Export operations

• Familiarity with international commerce (Incoterms, customs regulations, shipping methods) preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

• Strong organizational and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and manage schedules

• Understanding of regulatory and industry standards

• Must be able to work with internal teams and external stakeholders (customers, vendors, etc.)

• Ability to work in an office setting with occasional physical tasks (filing, phone work)
