Position
Specialist, Sr. (Accounting)

Summary
This company provides support services for Japanese expatriates and select employees of a North American automotive group.
The Accounting Specialist works with a moderate degree of autonomy and is responsible for professional-level accounting for the parent corporation and its manufacturing affiliates.
Approximately 80% of the role involves accounting tasks and 20% involves HR-related responsibilities.

Essential Duties

• Manage full-cycle accounting, including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close

• Complete assigned month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes ensuring US GAAP compliance

• Perform general ledger analyses and reconciliations

• Review and process monthly AP/AR accruals

• Create labor and expense budgets (quarterly, semi-annually, annually)

• Support payroll processing and ensure accounting/tax compliance

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts (Kaizen)

• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)

• 3+ years of accounting experience (preferred)

• Proficiency in accounts payable processes (preferred)

• Bilingual in English and Japanese, both oral and written (required)

• Proficiency in US GAAP (required)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites 2007 or newer (required)

• Ability to meet deadlines consistently

• Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills

• High level of professionalism in all interactions

• Attention to detail, strong problem-solving and organizational skills

• Experience with ADP or UKG, and JD Edwards (preferred)
