Position:
Freight Forwarding Specialist (Import/Export)

Essential Duties
- Manage end-to-end logistics processes, with a primary focus on export shipments to Asian countries and some import operations.
- Book cargo, coordinate transportation, and oversee customs clearance for international shipments.
- Prepare and review shipping documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and certificates of origin.
- Negotiate rates and contracts with carriers to ensure cost-effective solutions.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing real-time updates to clients and internal teams.
- Proactively address transportation issues such as delays, rerouting, or customs hold-ups.
- Analyze shipping data to identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction.
- Prepare accurate invoices and process payments with vendors, carriers, and overseas agents.
- Collaborate with clients to understand shipping requirements and provide expert guidance.
- Stay current with global trade regulations, tariffs, and compliance requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned.

Working Hours, Working Style
- 35-hour work week (7-hour days)
- Typical shift: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST
- Hybrid work schedule

Working Location
- Long Beach, California (Hybrid: office and remote work)

Salary/Benefit  
- Salary range: $58,000 – $63,000 per year
- Full benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision (coverage starts day 1)

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred; or 5 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- 3–5 years of freight forwarding experience, with strong knowledge of international shipping practices and regulations
- Experience in U.S. logistics, with a focus on exports to Asia
- Proficiency in industry-specific software (experience with Cargowise is a plus)
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail; ability to manage complex logistics operations
- Customer-centric, team player, reliable, and accountable
- Fluent English required; Japanese language skills not required but must be able to work effectively with Japanese-speaking management
- Must be comfortable reporting to a department manager whose primary language is Japanese
- Replacement position; candidates should be committed and happy to contribute to the team
