Position
[URGENT HIRE] Food Safety Specialist

Summary
The Food Safety Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and conducting routine inspections of franchise locations to ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations. This role ensures adherence to Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOP), store requirements, and state and local laws.

Essential Duties

• ​​​​​​​Oversee food safety and sanitation procedures for retail food service establishments.
• Conduct routine inspections of franchise locations to ensure compliance with SSOP, store requirements, and state/local regulations.
• Educate operators on food safety protocols, internal policies, and operational procedures during routine visits.
• Investigate reported issues related to product quality, food service operations, and compliance.
• Lead food safety training and discussions for operators and partners.
• Build and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies and industry partners.

Working Hours, Working style

Qualifications

• ​​​​​​​Education:
  • BA/BS in Biology, Food Science, Environmental Health, Microbiology, or a related field
• Experience:
  • Minimum two years of food safety experience
  • Strong knowledge of Retail Food Code required
  • REHS/RS or CP-FS certification is a plus
  • Experience in retail food service is a plus
• Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Strong time management and project execution skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations
