Position
Assistant Chef (Part-Time) / Kitchen Manager (Full Time)

Summary
A Michelin-starred restaurant is seeking a skilled and bilingual Assistant Chef / Kitchen Manager with expertise in Japanese cuisine. The ideal candidate will assist the Head Chef with food preparation and overall kitchen operations, while also supporting team leadership and event catering efforts.

Essential Duties

• Assist the Head Chef with daily kitchen tasks including food prep, cooking, and plating
• Participate in catering for special events held 2–3 times per month
• Support with order placement and inventory checks with vendors
• Help maintain overall kitchen quality, hygiene, and safety standards
• Depending on experience, may assist with front-of-house duties including serving and guest interaction

Working Hours, Working style

• For Exempt Full-Time:
  • Approximately  40 hours/week
• For Non-Exempt Part-Time:
  • Wednesday - Sunday; 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM or 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM (includes 1-hour break)

Must be available to work weekends

Woking Location
Hollywood, CA

• ​​​​​​​Candidates must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for commuting and errands.

Salary/Benefit
​​​​​​​Compensation to be determined based on experience and employment type (Full-Time or Part-Time)

Holidays
​​​​​​​Mondays and Tuesdays (based on restaurant schedule); additional holidays negotiable

Qualifications

• ​​​​​​​Minimum 5 years of experience in Japanese cuisine and kitchen operations
• Skilled in food preparation and knife techniques
• Bilingual: Japanese and English (Conversational level or higher required in both languages
• Valid driver’s license and access to a car (commuting and occasional shopping trips)
• Team player with high attention to hygiene, quality, and time management
