Sales Manager - Seafood Wholesale

Position Summary
A leading Japanese food and alcohol beverage distributor is seeking a Sales Manager – Seafood Wholesale to drive growth and expand market presence across the American consumer base. This role is responsible for developing new business opportunities, managing key accounts, and overseeing logistics operations, with a particular focus on fresh seafood distribution. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in food wholesale—preferably in seafood—and strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.

Essential Duties

• Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas as assigned by the Supervisor
• Develop new business relationships and manage existing accounts, including restaurant chains, retailers, distributors, and wholesalers
• Initiate and lead strategic programs to expand the customer base and increase brand visibility
• Coordinate weekly logistics for West Coast shipments (trucking and air): track and trace, release documentation, and ensure timely product distribution
• Collaborate with warehouse staff and drivers to plan delivery routes according to customer requests
• Immediately report shipment issues or service delays to the appropriate departments
• Provide product support, sales presentations, and timely communication to existing and potential clients
• Monitor market trends and target demographics to increase sales
• Maintain full knowledge of products and services; assist with marketing materials such as product catalogs and newsletters
• Support Accounts Receivable collections for fresh seafood clients
• Prepare and update monthly sales reports and related documentation
• Participate in trade shows and industry events in alignment with company objectives
• Maintain high customer satisfaction through excellent service and relationship-building
• Address customer inquiries and troubleshoot concerns in a timely and professional manner
• Educate clients on the benefits and applications of the company’s seafood offerings
• Analyze sales data and prepare performance reports for management review
• Operate company vehicle in accordance with company policy
• Attend semiannual inventory counts (may be scheduled on weekends)
• Participate in company events and activities outside of regular working hours
• Collaborate with internal departments to improve workflows and customer outcomes
• Perform other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of experience in food wholesale/distribution (seafood industry preferred)
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability to drive and sit for extended periods during sales visits
• Business-level English (reading, writing, speaking, and listening)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
• Strong analytical, data management, and reporting skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Positive attitude and a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and priorities
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs
• Basic mathematical skills for inventory, markups, discounts, and conversions
• Comfortable using the phone and computer for extended periods
• Noise level ranges from normal to loud in the office environment
