Junior/Senior Accountant Consultant 

Summary
A firm specializing in accounting services for Japanese companies is seeking an accounting professional. With a team of bilingual CPAs and experts across various fields, they support Japanese businesses expanding into the U.S. by providing tailored accounting, tax, and consulting services.

Essential Duties

• Serve as the primary client contact for assigned engagements.
• Perform bookkeeping, monthly/quarterly closing, attestation services (financial statement reviews and compilations), tax return preparation, and other accounting/tax-related services.
• Take on interim Accounting Manager or Controller responsibilities as needed.
• Collaborate closely with Managers and Senior Managers.
• Provide consultative support to clients, including setting up new accounting and tax processes, responding to inquiries with intermediate-level expertise, and offering best-practice recommendations.
   

Working Hours, Working style
Monday - Friday; 8:30 - 17:30 (1 hour lunch, OT as needed)

• Hybrid remote (after a training period)
• Fully remote option available for candidates with prior public accounting experience, even from other states.
• Flexible working hourss can be considered for childcare needs.

Salary / Benefit
Junior Level: $45K - 60K DOE
Senior Level: $70K - 120K DOE

Qualifications
For Junior Level:

• No prior experience required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field is a plus
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles
• Japanese language proficiency is a plus, but not required

For Senior Level:

• 3+ years in public accounting or 5+ years in private accounting
• Experience in bookkeeping (including financial statement close process), attestation, or tax (corporate, individual, miscellaneous)
• Japanese language proficiency

Preferred Qualifications (All Levels):

• Public accounting experience (e.g., accounting firms, bookkeeping service providers)
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification (CPA holders will be designated as Senior Consultants)
• Solid understanding of intermediate accounting, corporate tax, and/or individual tax
• Strong communication and project management skills; ability to manage multiple client engagement
