Job Description

Position
Japanese/English Interpreter

Summary
Bilingual Japanese-English speaker needed to quickly and accurately facilitate communication between Japanese and US employees in a manufacturing environment. Primarily, you will interpret spoken Japanese or English, but you may also be asked to translate written communication such as emails, reports, or other documents.

Essential Duties
• ​​​​​ ​​​​​  Interpret between Japanese and US stakeholders.
•    Provide interpretation for various meetings (in person and web conferences) from English and Japanese and vice versa.
•    Communication support for Japanese expats and business trippers. Hotels, rental cars, etc.
•    Translating technical and non-technical documents including policies, instructions, and manuals when necessary from English to Japanese and vice versa.
•    Compose and translate emails, reports etc.
•    Required to translate both Japanese to English and English to Japanese.
•    Proficient with proof reading and editing with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
•    Other interpreting duties as needed.

Working Hours, Working style
8：00-17：00

Woking Location
Overland Park, KS, and it will move to DeSoto, KS around October 2024.

Salary/Benefit
$50K-$65K

Qualifications
​​​​•    Bilingual in Japanese and English 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•    Excellent organizational and time management skills.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
•    Comfortable using MS Teams for web conferencing. 

Essential Qualifications:
•    Business-level fluency of both Japanese and English, including reading, writing and speaking. 
•    2 years of translator / interpreter experience in a business/ technical environment.
•    Retain nuances of conversation while translating quickly and accurately
•    Ability to do technical document translation to and from Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications:
•    Manufacturing translation related experience
•    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
•    Work experience in a multicultural environment

Physical Requirements / Work Environment Requirements
•    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
