 【Position】
  UL Approvals Specialist

【Summary】
To manage and take ownership for the Approval and Certification processes for the USA market. Ensuring that products supplied by the Group for the US marked are compliant with relevant national and international fire standards. Supporting Global R&D in all matters regarding product certification and UL approval through understanding and assessing market requirements.

【Essential Duties】

• Overseeing approval and certification processes to enable product delivery to the USA Market.
• Working with managers to ensure products are properly designed and implemented in accordance with the needs and requirements of our UL customers across the globe in the USA
• Close Liaison with UL, including building and maintaining relationships at senior and operating levels within the approvals body - Working closely with the Director of Compliance (based in the UK) to oversee the quality of products and creating systems to ensure that they meet necessary standards.
• Maintaining the approvals budget for the department, determining the best products or materials to use to meet manufacturing objectives and standards.
• Proactively driving coordination and communication between support and business functions, both locally and on a global scale
• Taking ownership for maintaining positive and effective relationships with Approval Agencies, including UL, FM and other US. approval bodies. Representing the Group with US approval bodies.
• Supporting the process for UL & FM approvals including documentation, submissions, and process management.
• Gaining Approval and scheduling management of products and process(es), aligning Product Development, Product Management, Compliance and R&D.
• Aligning with Product Development, Product Management, Compliance & R&D to position product approval in the development schedule, ensuring that America achieves speed-to-market in product offerings. - Generation of Installation Instructions, data sheets and manuals for UL approved products.
• Research and generation of application notes to assist customers in specifying and using VES technology - Liaison with Sales and Product Management to improve/update technical literature.
• Updating technical protocol documents and maintaining version control and distribution control.

【Qualifications】 

• Essential: Minimum of 5 years of technical experience in an electronics/ manufacturing environment
• Essential: Experience with product approval processes and bodies
• Desirable: Previous experience working in the Fire Industry environment or building systems & safety
• Desirable: Experience in areas of value engineering and in lean manufacturing environments
