Job Description

A leading global upstream company engaged in oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) activities is currently hiring an Accounting Manager in their Houston Office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

【Accounting】

• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with USGAAP.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual closing of FS and deliver them to the controller
• Check and process non-operated joint interest billings and revenue statements consistent with GAAP, COPAS, JOA, and division orders accordingly using EnergyLink system
• Make inquiries to the operator for information necessary for the appropriate coding and accounting treatment
• Create journal entries for hedge transactions and equity investments by equity method
• Conduct analysis of AFE(budget) vs actuals and its tracking and managing on a monthly basis
• Deal with annual audit and prepare PBCs, documentations and answers to the inquiries for an external audit and taxation
• Participate in joint venture audits and communicate with the audit coordinator in the operating company for the audit exceptions and the additional information.

【Tax】

• Periodical reviews on tax provisional calculations and accounting recording
• Periodical reviews on Schedule K-1 (Form 1065) for the partnership
• Annual tax filling support (Federal Tax, Texas Franchise Tax etc.,)
• Communication with the Big 4 external tax consultants and prepare the requested data and documents in a timely manner

【Others】

• Plan and supervise the work of junior accountants, provide coaching & guidance and review

their performance

Qualifications:

【Experience】

• Minimum 7-10 years’ experience in oil and gas accounting
• Experience working in medium to large U.S. oil & gas companies
• Prior Supervisor/Manager Experience
• Strong Analytical Skills
• Background in Revenue and JIB

 

【Education, Training, Licenses and/or Certifications】

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related degree
• Holder of USCPA license is a plus
• Preferable with COPAS APA certification

 

【Requirements for this position】

• JIB and revenue experience in Energylink, strong excel skill required (Strong user of pivot table and advanced Excel Functions & Formulas, incl. VLOOKUP, SUMIF/COUNTIF,

SUMIFS)

• Preferred knowledge of OGsys
• Ability to accurately solve problems and proficiency in data management including spreadsheet proficiency
• Big 4 Audit experience preferred
• Knowledge of strong accounting skill including USGAAP and expertise
• Ability to prepare work papers and position papers to be submitted to the external auditor for the application of new accounting guidelines and policy, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work well with different departments in cooperation
• High level of interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
• Humble and have a positive attitude
• Team-oriented cooperation worker
• Ability to multi-task
• Open to a working manager role, i.e. be willing to dig into and handle hands-on jobs
